the only problem with Acid/base that I have ever run into is something else besides FFA causing a high acid reading...I have had this 2 times since starting to use acid/base sorry I don't have an answer in this case, but your case looks like to was too cold and not enough acid. so try reheating( a vent should be open for expansion(maybe safety)) then add 0.4ml of acid(per liter) to 1 gallon of methanol(total) to the mix. mix for hours checking titration every hour if you can. if the titration rises...darn!!! looks like you had a false high reading..otherwise it should fall. good luck -dkenny '84 bluebird school bus, DD8.2L turbo 2006 Jeep Liberty CRD the Liberty is now running B100 99 dodge 2500 5.9l 24v..-mine |

the original titration figure I gave was incorrect..
it was 15 ( not including the base 5) and these figures were using NaOH I have added another 1ML of acid, and a bit more meth as I dont know how much has evaped.. (the container has been closed but not sealed ) so its back on the heat and mixing with 2ML acid per 1L oil after 1.5 hours, titration is now down to 13.5.. so it never "went up" I just reported the wrong value by mistake. so I have lost 1 point and a half so far.. cold = longer processing correct ? and no mixing = longer processing ? "wait and titrate" my new pastime .. |

oh ..
and dkenny thanks for your input, and for all of your past input.. before I decided to attempt this acid stuff, I read just about every post on this acid method topic, and you appear to be one of the key people out there forging ahead with this process and bringing valuable real world data to the table, and I for one appreciate it. thanks.. |
