Hi-

I'm wondering if anyone has experience using flash evaporation to recover the Alcohol-Acid solution used for esterification. Specifically, I would like to know if the acid (assuming conc. Sulfuric Acid) will evaporate readily- along with the alcohol. Sulfuric Acid has a boiling point of 338*C compared to Methanol at 64.7*C. So, it seems unlikely. But, I seem to remember reading a study where this method was employed.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Nick

Dear ecoFox
Yes you will suffer about how to neutrilyze Acid Catalyst before feed to Transesterification.
but Acid Esterification is very corrosive process to in Thailand some Turnkey process plant used Glass linning Vessel(expensive Reactor)
Why you don't use Solid Catalyst Esterification
