I use Q&D and I doubt you will have much success using Q&D on dirty oil. I suggest an upflow cell with a layer of waste glycerol in the bottom as discussed here:
http://biodiesel.infopop.cc/ev...?r=55710348#55710348 Then run the output from the upflow cell through a Q&D column to ensure dry oil. Many would agree with you. Warming and settling seems to be more effective on problem oil. John, interesting. But doing this seems to be the same thing as doing a glc pretreatment. Do you think performing pretreatment, drain glc, then circulate pretreated oil thru QND tower back into the processor work? If done while still warm, would being tht help QND to remove water? How much trouble is it to clean and dry QND? Thanks for your time. |

It's rather easy to clean and dry Q&D if it's been used with clean oil. Spread the Q&D on a layer of paper towel with newspaper beneath and let it air dry. The clean oil drains off.
