Our local Graingers industrial supply sells sulfuric acid but I can't tell what the concentration is. Can someone please clarify these numbers?

Sulfuric Acid,
0.02N (0.01M), NIST
0.01N (0.005M), NIST
10% v/v, NIST
10% w/w, NIST
Sulfuric Acid, ACS

thanks,
John

You don't want any of those for biodiesel. .01/.02 is very weak.

10% V/V is 10% by volume
10% W/W is 10% by weight

For acid esterification you need something like 98%.

Small quantities for homebrewers are available on ebay.

K.L. Jack, an industrial supplier, successor and competitor to Fastenal sells
Sulfuric Acid in Gardiner, Maine. Maybe a large franchise in your area?
