I'm looseing a total of 20% of starting material to by-product!!

So my Final Washed Bio Yield is in round figures 80% of starting Oil.. ( white Soap losses during washing not figured here for simplicity but are only small..)

I'm wondering at what FFA% is the Break Point for the addition of an Acid stage, to be worth while..??

My Yield results from Titrations of 2 to 2.5, I use plenty of Cat and Meth (25%) and carefully Dry Oil pre-reaction . ( ie reaction perameters ok..)

Any thoughts anyone on FFA% and acid stage viability ?????????

Finally had some better luck doing a simple Acid Stage ( heat to 55c add Meth 8%,mix, then add 1 ml sulfuric, moniter Acid value fall to end point, Rest,..... Then BASE stage, Reheat to 55c, Titrate, add required Base Cat in 12% meth and react 1hr)

Testbench ( 1 ltr ) yield same as Testbench single Base stage (low)..!!?? HOWEVER using same method in 1200 ltr reaction got improved yield at 95% ish (unwashed !)looKing great though!

Am presently washing so still have'nt got final
yield measured.

Results indicating that at this Tit 3.5 Acid treatment was worth while.( carn't explain why Mini Test failed to show yield increase...??probly.. aliens..again...!!!!

Matthew How did your Acid product wash up ???( normal, better,worse...Yield still there...???

Cheers

Airborne, great news, and yes you got about the same yield as I got, approx 95%.

Mine has washed, got no frothing on the top as I normally do, about the usual amount of cream cheese on the water / ester boundary. It is lovely fluffy white soap I guess. It is slowly drying (loosing its haze) and should be usable this week. There is no going back!

I ended up with 950 litres from 1025 starting.
