First question to answer is: what type/kind of oil are you using to make the biodiesel with? Is it hydrogenated or not? The various types of oil all have characteristics that need to be taken into account when attempting to use the glycerine layer for soap making.
The next question is: what caustic do you use in the biodiesel process? There are cases where liquid soap is the only viable answer, while others make forming hard bars a simple task. There is no one recipe fits all answer.
