In my OPINION, (I don't have much cold weather experience), you would almost need to set up a two tank grease car type setup. Start on winter Diesel then switch over to mildly heated biodiesel. If your coldest biodiesel was at 60 deg F it would flow just fine. Just enough heat to keep it flowing.
I'm single tank heated WVO blend right now. But I will have to be two tank by this fall. (I work in Columbus Ohio.) I've been toying with the idea of using a three tank system. 1- Six gallon winter diesel tank for startup and shutdown. 1- 18 gallon main (factory) tank with biodiesel in it. The heated WVO tank will be right up against this tank and will add a little heat to it just by that. Both tanks are physically inside of the trunk to they will not be directly exposed to cold outside air. In addition the fuel lines will all be bundled with the coolant lines providing HOH heat. 1- 15 gallon heated WVO tank. Because of the distances I drive I actually need the extra capacity. I need to leave home with about 40 gallons in the tank. 18 + 15 = 33 gallons plus 6 gallons of winter diesel. The 3rd tank is 15 gallons only because I have one hanging around and the price is right. Maybe I should be using this as a 6 gallon start/stop tank, 18 gallon semiheated blend of Good WVO/Biodiesel, and a 15 gallon WVO tank that MUST be heated to melt higher melting point oil (I get a good bit of hamburger fat). -Jim www dot FryerPower dot com 1987 300DT (The sedan, not the wagon.) Some modifications to the fuel system. 1995 S350D Unmodified fuel system. I plead the 5th. |

this was one of the factors that caused me to go with WVO instead of bio
