Hello, Newbie here. I am not new to diesel or biodiesel, however, I am new to VW TDI's. I am planning on taking delivery of a 1999 Jetta TDI by the end of the month. IT is a plain Jetta with about 115,000 miles. It drives tight and straight. Has a few interior items to fix, but I am not going to die over them. Anyhow, I am familiar with 606 Merc diesels and very familiar with 617 Merc diesels (I currently have four of them), but I know nothing of the TDI. I do not make my own biodiesel. For years I have been using a 5% blend from a truck stop. I have had no issues with the fuel. What warnings, words of wisdom would be offered as far as a 1999 TDI using commercial biodiesel?

I have a 1999 beetle TDI so it is the same engine that you will have. I have had no problems using Bio and I have used anywhere from b100 to b5. Go to http://www.tdiclub.com/ for allot of really good info on your vehicle. They have everything from maintenance to performance enhancements. That forum is not real bio friendly, but if you don't mention it you can get good advice. I love my Bug.

Related to the vehicle and not the fuel, be sure the timing belt and all associated parts have been changed. I beleive the 99 is a 60 mile belt, but can be upgraded to a 100 mile one.

As for biodiesel, I am new to it.
