I'm surprised this thread wasn't answered ...
My '02 Golf has over 30K miles of its 90K total on bio (from B5 to home-brew B100). I have had zero trouble (shy of tires and routine oil changes). If anything I can say with confidence my TDI runs quieter and smoother. Many report variations in mileage between pump diesel and biodiesel, I would argue this variance would be present between grades and brands of pump diesel alone. Most of my WVO I process bio from is from Canola and my experience has been one of increased mileage and power. I change my oil every ~3K miles and I have noticed a significant reduction in oil soot (so much so I may extend my oil changes out to 5K). If you local supplier is a reputable dealer and you preform regular maintenance you should have no problem. Change your fuel filter out after 10-20K miles once you initially start using biodiesel as it will clean your fuel system. |
