I run a Ford Galaxy TDi in the UK on biodiesel. All works fine been going for 3000 miles. Starts up first thing fine, also starts up fine after an hour or so break. But if I warm the engine up (say 20 mins driving) and then stop for a short period (up to about 40 mins) the car takes much longer to start. I have to hold the key while its cranking over, for say 10-15 or 20 secs.

Anyone any idea why its doing this, and why if I then leave the engine to cool, it will simply start up normally?

Possibly the temperature sensor diasables glow plugs during cool down period- find the wire and disconnect it-
Suspect low compression to be a contributing factor- two of my diesels have no starting aids and start immediately when above 7 deg. celsius-
