Hi I live in the Lake in the Hills, IL area, northwest suburb of Chicago. I am looking for a source of Waste vegetable oil for my BMW diesel car. I plan to buy a kit to convert to running on waste vegetable oil. unfortunately, I don't have the time to collect and filter the wvo from restaurants, etc. and am looking for somewhere close by where I can buy the filtered, WVO. I found a guy in Wisconsin where I can get it for $1.00 a gallon, and am looking for somewhere similar. does anyone have any ideas?

Where did you find it in WI? I'm just getting started (made a few contacts for oil & will start collecting soon), but I may need to buy some extra to get me going, my truck will burn 50+ gallons on a long trip up north.

Thanks,

Scott

I can help you guys out if you want. I spent a ton of cash getting a good fuel filtering system set up and I wouldn't mind selling some fuel to you guys to help pay this off. $1 a gallon is fine. I live up by Fox Lake & McHenry area. Email me if your still interested.

I have about 20 to 30 gallons of filtered SVO in my garage that I do not need right now.

I live in Aurora. As far a a source, I do not have a steady source here in the Chicago area right now.

It's a real messy job collecting used oil. I have a tank and heater set up that I want to sell. I spent about $600 for everything but you can have it for 1/2 of that. It includes 40 gallon electric heater, two in line screw filters, 250 gallon garage storage tank and all the copper piping connecting everything. I don't want the mess anymore so now I get my oil new from the store and just pour it in.

Hey guys, I just got a 90 1/2 ton chevy that I plan to convert, I want to do it myself rather than buyin a $1500 kit. I have been researching this for a while but I still would love to tap into any knowlege and experiences you self converters have. All of us in northern Illinois should start a club to pool our collective brains. If anyone wants to offer any help, or sell some WVO/SVO you can E Mail me. Thanks guys

Unfortunately that is going to very difficult for you. I have a lot of people I know in Lake County trying really hard to get oil. I have an extra 2 - 55 gallon barrels of new virgin oil but those cost me $170 a piece. If you need them I can help you get started with these. Many guys have resorted to stealing the oil at night. There going to get caught and prosecuted but they don't listen to the warnings. I started this 2 years ago because I knew it was going to get to this point. Contact me if you have questions.

My name is Patrick. At present I own three companies here in Charlotte, NC, although by the end of September 2008, we ought to be relocating to the Chicago suburbs.

Because the moving industry will be all but frozen in Chicago--we'll see--we'll be reorganizing teams of WVO collectors. We'll centralize a location for filtration, someplace in the Western Suburbs, most likely, and distribute everything from there.

So if you're looking for WVO, give me about a month. We're putting together 1,000 gallons a day down here, and Charlotte is a fraction the size of Chicago plus the suburbs. If you're interested in working with me on this, but you're wondering how serious I am about the alternative fuels industry, visit our website at: http://LakeNormanMovingServices.com.

Sounds interesting. There are quite a few groups here collecting now but I am not part of one at this time. I'll be happy to talk to you when you get in the area.

Not sure of the cause. Have you checked with Greasedar for an answer? They are usually pretty helpful.
