Does it pass the vapor test for bone dry fuel?
If there is ANY moisture in the BD it could be carrying dissolved contaminants through the filter to clog the nozzle when the moisture evaporates.
Moisture tests
Does anything precipitate out after heating a sample to ~250 then letting it cool?
Is the water shake test with distilled water? tap water can give a false pass.

Furnace nozzles commonly plug when using normal diesel HHO. 10µ isn't fine enough, add a 5µ filter like used for Monitor or Toyo stoves after the 10µ filter.

I check for dryness by putting a mason jar sample in the frig to see if it gets hazy at 50For even lower. If it gets hazy then it's not dry. I think there is aproblem with the fuel not being washed properly or drying, because there's black residual on the nozzle. HHo never leaves a residue on the nozzle I could use the same nozzle for 3-4 years.

How do you test for soap? Somebody said something about doing soap titrations. To test for water I heat a sample to 250F? If the water is carrying contaminants from the bio then the contaminants are going to be in there whether the water is there or not.

RE: Wal1809 As a Canadian and a former soldier I would sadly have to agree with your statment. We do not spend what the US does as far as GDP. I, like you, make my own BD because it is the right thing to do. I haven't spent much time on the board as I am just getting back into making BD. I ran a truck with a SVO set up for a couple years.
Sadly few Canadians (and Americans) realize the true cost of oil. If you are looking at this from a straight $$ perspective then I guess everyone has to decide for themselves. If you are looking at the bigger pictures (most on this board) then your perspective changes. What the US does spend on defence is mindboggling to me. To be fair there are few countries that spend the same as the US. Please note that views might be different but we must always back our soldiers, regardless of the politics.

I have way more money sunk into my BD habit than one would thing wise but like someone else said, I don't do it just to save money. I do it as my personal, although small, contribution to energy independence. We certainly can't depend on the gov'ment or the energy companies to develope and bring to market a viable alternative energy source. Their too busy "servicing" one another for that to happen anytime soon.

And, I've learned a ton through all this. I've learn plumbing, electircal, welding, chemistry, metal fabrication, patience, and, how to royally F&%# up, learn from it, and keep going forward. The lessons, knowledge, and satisfaction I've gained from BD production far out weigh the money I save not buying dino-diesel. Beside, I enjoy drive by gas stations with out stopping!

It is truly priceless every time someone looks at me with raised eyebrows and asks..."you put that sh#* in your truck??". Hey, for me... it's fun, it's easy and certainly has way more positives than negatives.

I agree... every drop of canola oil that makes the B50 blend I run in my truck was cultivated harvested and transported with the same domestic oil that makes up 50% of my fuel blend. Zero terrorist oil in my truck. I refuse to contribute anything to the people whose goal is to destroy our culture. I also refuse to do business with or associate with those people who insist on wearing costumes to set themselves apart and who refuse to learn our language and embrace our culture. If that makes me a bigoted racist, then so be it.

For me it's not about saving money, it's about saving our culture.

My culture wears pieces of yellow foam rubber, often triangular, atop the head as insulation against the year-round cold. With the success of our local football league the national media zeroed in on our somewhat unique headgear, christening us 'cheeseheads'.

Just wondering, do those north of 60 wear the yellow foam cap as we do? If so, then our cultures have drifted too far apart, tho we have so much in common.

I am closing this topic as it had devolved into a xenophobic rant complete with racial epithets. I removed the offensive posts.

That sort of stuff just isn't welcome on this forum.

Take it elsewhere.
