Hi all,

I see lots of talk about 6"+ columns, but i figure a 4" with a 20" bed of dw-r10 will be ok, right? I'm shooting for about 3-5 gph. I am using a 15 gallon hardwood shaving tower in the lead to take the brunt.

Any reason a 4" would be a problem?

Hi fin reaper,
I think everyone has gone to sleep on here.

Yes, it will work fine. Just remember that the smaller the column, then the slower the flow to achieve the same purification. Also the media will need changing/ re-generating more often.

I have used a variety of columns over the last few years and I'm not a great lover of the things. If you can set up some sort of header tank they work better, so gravity can do it's thing.

Thanks Dgs.

I've converted my old wash and dry barrels into precipitation barrels with a stand pipe. I'll let them sit for several weeks before running through my 25 gallon hardwood chip filter, then plan to polish with the 4" ion-resin tower.
