I am finally getting around to making a couple of columns.I nave some Purolite that was given to me from a place that stopped production. How full should I fill the columns I am using the corney kegs. The amount giving in the post is in pounds but my media is wet it has been in a drum with bio covering it. I did a little test with the media by putting some in a coffee filter and running bio thru it and it cleaned it up nice.

The recommended depth is 24" dry media and at least that much again for expansion. If you are starting out with soaked resin it may or may not have already expanded. If that is the case you could probably get away with filling almost to the neck, but withouth knowing forsure how much use the resin has had it would be prudent to leave a good head space in case there is more expansion coming. Personally I would not fill them over half full, and then run several in series rather than try to cramp it all into one or two beds.

MO for what it's worth.
