I've been researching about how to set up my own bio diesel system for a bit now.

As I understand it, most folks only filter thier bio when they pour the waste oil into the holding tank. I have however seen one person's system a 5 micron filter after the holding tank before the heater. How benificial is this filter actually? I can see how having a filter right before pumping into a vehicle is a good idea too. What about filtering before going into wash tank as well?

thanks

What I do is first screan filter using an aquarium filter pickup. From there into a centrifugal pump through a 200m then 25m bag filter into my holding tank. From there into my reactors. Post reaction a 5m filter then a centrifuge into a bio hold. Fuel looks like a lite beer.

Whoa!!! slow down there! I'm a newbie! Smile

I have read as far back as this forum will go, and it seems the general consensious is that you can use a large sieve over the holding vat to strain all the large chunks out.

As one person mentioned in another thread, he, like me was concerned the pump, lines, and reactor would eventually become clogged with the "fines" settling out in them. Many have assured that all these "fines" will settle out with the glycerine.

One thing I did notice while reading back a few pages of threads, is that folks do add a de-watering filter right prior to pumping into their vehicles. Can someone give me a link and or a picture of how a fueling station with filter is set up? I'd really apperciate that!
