Well I made one 25 gal batch and one 30 gallon batch. The first batch emulsified on the first bubble wash so I let it sit in the wash tank. I made the second batch and did a double titration prior just to check my figures. I put in a second wash tank and stirred it with a stick thinking that if I was gentler it wouldn't emulsify, but it did. I tried the vinegar solution on one and the salt on the other. The vinegar seemed to work the best. I was thinking about combining both batches to maybe neutralize the salt and vinegar. If it still emulsifies can I try the glycerin approach even after I did the salt and/or vinegar?
The other problem I am having is, after I drain the glycerin from my Appleseed there is always a little glycerin that comes out into my wash tank(might be why it's emulsifying during the wash). How do you clear all of the glycerin from the biodiesel prior to washing?
I'm a little discouraged but still determined.
Thanks,
Jack

yes you can do a 5% glycerol wash after trying salt. I did it recently with a batch of gloop; the salt failed so i made a new batch and used the glycerol from it - it cleared very quickly.
I have problems with glycerol dropping out for a while after processing too. I tend to leave mine overnight after i drain the glycerol, then drain whatever falls out during the night in the morning, which is usually around couple of hundred mls. One word of caution tho - if you skimp on the methanol in the processing stage the glycerol drops out more slowly and sets like rubber, blocking pumps amd pipes.

Thanks Jehu,
I went to work on the two batches today. The one I broke with vinegar did fine on the second wash. The salt one, I warmed up with a homemade emersion heater and then added about 9 gallons of glycerin. It broke fairly quickly. I then took that batch and combined it with the first and left for work with it bubble washing til midnight tonight. At 2 hours of bubbling it still looked good(no emulsion). I'm trying to get 100 gallons processed washed and dried by Monday to put in the motorhome for vacation(250 gallon fuel tank). I'd need a second mortgage to fill it up with petro.
Thanks,
Jack
