We recently got this and built a homemade stand for it. It's very convenient and easy to use! Here's a pic..

Cool! Is that a stirrer the flask is sitting on top of? What brand and model is it?

Here's what we (RMBI) did with the hardware we bought from B100supply.com.

We LOVE it!

...and magnetic stirrers ARE fun.

Bob,

there's not enough crap on the table surface in your picture. It's a rule of biodiesel making that every available surface be covered. Refer to first picture in this thread for suggestions on how the pros do this.

I went looking at magnetic stirrers... again Those things are expensive. Greaseburger's is like $180. I have not looked up Bob's but it looks like one of the $400 ones.

I have found one for $99, but it's got an ABS plastic top. Just about anything will melt ABS plastic. Methanol and biodiesel are both very hard on ABS. I guess they would do the job if you covered with a sheet of polyethelyene.

The next cheapest one I can find is right at $180.

Would anyone be interested in a $99 magnetic stirrer with ABS cover or a $180 magnetic stirrer with a stainless cover?

I got mine from ebay for $25.00 plus shipping, a friend of mine got one large enough to stir a carboy for $75.00 so deals are out there.

But we have a mini-spitoon (used) and white-out!

Don't we get anachronism points?

How's about that *special* penholder?

Bob,

You only get points for anachronism if you have a Monkeys record to go with the white-out. Wink

Yuck, it looks from your penholder that the spitoon doesn't work well enough, or the spitter misses a lot.

Rick - you are wearing an apron to protect your skin, and yet you have no sleeves on your shirt?

lol

Labcoats are cheap, and invaluable.

oops, I guess I'm busted on that count. They do make sleeves that go with the apron, but I don't have any of them.

Actually the apron reminds me of something you'd wear at the big BBQ while grilling.
