We have been running blends of biodiesel in a 2007 F250 for 2.5 years now. Off and on there have been some power issues, where the truck ran sluggish but would recover eventually (sometimes after a day or 2, other times after a week or so). In the first year, we ran B30-50 and up to about B70 in the summer heat, but it seemed to develop more sluggishness issues as time went by. For the past year, it's been 100% petrol diesel about 1/2 the time, and B5-B25 (max) the rest. For the past 4 months or so, B5 or 100% petro is what we were using. Fuel filters were changed at about 16K and 26K, has 34K now. Biodiesel passes 3/27, fully washed and dried (tested for water), blended well in winter so it doesn't gell, etc. It's also been used in an 04 Jetta B60-B100 for the past 4.5 years with no problems.

Took it in to Ford yesterday for a check up to try to figure out the sluggishness problem and fix a few other minor things before the warranty is up. They diagnosed it to fuel pump and are replacing it under warranty.

I googled F250 fuel pump problems but didn't come up with much. Is there a site/forum for Ford trucks? I'm trying to figure out if the bio contributed to the fuel pump problem, or if it is a common problem without biodiesel use. I'd like to continue to use a bio blend, but am reluctant to do so if it might develop another fuel pump problem.
Thanks

what motor is in it? Not like it really matters anything after the 7.3L is junk for running biodiesel. Just replaced 2 injectors and had a fass fuel system put on, the bill rang up to $1980!

BTW, the 6.0 Powerstroke is far less tolerant of less than par biodiesel than the 7.3.

Even spec Biodiesel, your filters get plugged, then the injectors get starved adn they go out. So lets say you let your buddy drive your truck and he doestn realize it.... **BAM** a nice bill from your local auto shop!

Thanks brentsbg and binuya.
http://www.ford-trucks.com/ has tons of information! One interesting tidbit: "below 45 psig fuel pressure ruins injectors" "Low pressure caused by a failing fuel pump can cause repeat injector failure." The truck was running at 25psi before replacing the fuel pump, 50 psi after.
So...are the injectors now going to go soon since the pressure was low (probably for a while)? Is there a check on the injectors they can do to see if they are going to fail soon? (Hopefully before the warranty is up) The paperwork didn't state anywhere that they had checked the injectors. Any way to renew a "damaged" injector that is still working?
Thanks
