I had a sudden change in performance after 1 year running on SVO. After switching tanks from SVO to diesel, the truck started running really badly, at one point I couldn't get it to start. I thought it might be air in the fuel lines so I checked the SVO conversion and fittings and put in another fuel pump. Now the trunk starts and idles fine but has no top in power. Any thoughts?

Sounds like fuel starvation to me, something in your fuel supply system got plugged, especially if this happened all of a sudden, injectors would more likely become fouled over a much longer time.

Tim, I'm leaning that way too. The engine sounds fine, no idle problems... it just doesn't have any power on a grade.

Sounds like you have a blockage in one of the supply lines.

Whatever it is, it is most likely common to both SVO and Diesel. Something after the three way valve on the supply line.

Could also be something non fuel line related. Are you getting good boost from the turbo charger? Lose that and it will behave like a dog.

I would replace the OEM fuel filter (at the front of the engine) , which is likely shared by both the vo and diesel systems.

David Norwood

2001 F350 7.3 DI purchased new by me and i believe it is the first DI Ford experimented with and talked about on this forum. The single OEM fuel tank only.

Updated 1/2009 .
HOH for fuel line heat from tank to 12v lift pump. GPI/CIM-TEK spin on filterhead and 10 micron filter. Two 12v 36" heaters wrapped around metal fuel lines. One before add on filter and one before OEM filter.dttk44@bellsouth.net

Cool weather mixes starting spring 2009. 100% vo to 65*. 5% K1 to 55*. 10% K1 to 45*. 20% K1 to 35*. 30% K1 to 10*.
