Be smart, don't respond to SPAM messages. When anyone responds to a SPAM message it sends a message back to the spammer that they have hit a valid site for more SPAM. Wise up and don't encourage them.

Report SPAM by clicking on the triangle in the lower right corner of the message box. That way the administrator can remove it without triggering a response.

DO NOT RESPOND TO SPAM

Got it???

Hey, that's OK we all are at one time or another.
Now you know how to report it. This forum isn't very good at communicating 'housekeeping' stuff like that.

Every time somebody responds to that spam message the spammer gets more encouragement. Too bad even the experienced members don't learn.

John,

I really wanted to buy that snake oil that was advertised here a year ago...
And, it was only $200 a metric ton... sounded like a good deal to me.

It is especially important to not respond to spam in your email inbox, but I've also heard that you don't want to block future emails from the sender, either. Apparently, this sends a message back to the sender that they are blocked, which tells them that the email address is valid and active.

I tried this on a new account I opened - didn't block anything, and I've only gotten a few dozen spams in 3 or 4 months. This compared to my old account where I blocked a few spams and now the inbox is flooded with them.

I don't think this applies to this forum, however. Even if the poster gets a notification of a reply it probably won't prompt them to post more of their garbage on this forum since they are obviously just cutting and pasting anyway, and don't appear very smart, even if they did understand english which I don't think they do.

Emails - definitely don't respond or block.
