I wonder if I can recover my methanol before I move my biodiesel fro my airtight processor to my open-to-atmosphere wash tank, in order to minimize methnol exposure. I did a glycerine prewash, if that matters. It's the first time I've doe one nd I'm anxious to see how it affects my wash.

The problem with recovering before you seperate the BD from the glycerine byproduct is that your risk reversing the reaction.

You would be better off seperating and the recovering seperately.

Besides, there's usually only a small percentage of methanol in the BD so there just ins't that much to recover from the BD. Most of the methanol is in the byproduct.

There are several past threads about this topic.

Look in the waterless washing thread. They have to remove methanol from the BD in order to use the magnasol.
