Now that I have made my nice copper reflux still, I'm wondering if it is overkill for methanol recovery??

Should I just do a basic unit, and save this thing of beauty for water distillation?

In other words, is there any advantage of a Reflux Still for methanol recovery from bio-diesel glycerin?

Absolutely, if you want to recover reusable methanol you need a reflux still, methanol with water in it just makes your process a guessing game. But you surely don't need one made out of copper.
