Need some other heads on this one. I want to bubble 50 gallons of 140F bio treated with 20% methanol and 7.5 Naoh circulated 2.5hrs pass 3/27 test with no fallout. First glycerin is drained after 24hrs settling. Next I want to put a small bubbler with a line to the bottom of the tank and then take a separate line taking the head mixture from the tank over to my chiller controlled condenser that will keep the water at just above freezing 33-35 degrees controlled by a pid and thermocouple.

Questions hit me and I will quickly respond. Did a web search and found little to help with the specific situation.

Want to eliminate the heating and cooling of bio in the distiller to recover methanol.

Hi AWK

Here's an idea for you ...

If you pass your warm biodiesel thru a venturi, you can recirculate the same air thru your chilling condenser.

You'll find this gives better recovery than injecting fresh air, because you would need an exit route for the air you put in, and that exiting air will invariably carry methanol off with it.

So, just use a pump to recirculate the biodiesel in a closed loop, via a venturi.

If you click on my 'Useful Linlks' below, choose the 1st item, for the EcoSystem, and that describes the setup.

Only difference is, you will pass chilled water thru the condenser.

Hope that helps,

Graham.

Graham,
So you think I can remove methanol with a venturi as the fluid is pumped into the head area and then have a condenser at low temperature will draw the gas into the condenser?
Interesting.
Will try it an report back.
Thanks
