The tube from the reflux column goes up another 2 feet and over 2 feet and seems to allow more water to condense. I've been working on the same 50 gallons of acidulated glyc. for 14 hours and I have about 25 gallons of methanol which weighed 401 g for 500mlwhich is 98% still.

rook, do you have a picture of the actual unit? I'd be interested in seeing what it looks like.

in the beginning I used 20% meth. but had some conversion problems and had to reprocess a couple of batches. I had not yet found this site.
so in the first couple of batches I used alot of meth probably 35%. I think the biggest reason I am getting so much is it's acidulated glyc.

I added a reflux column which made a huge difference.

the tube begins the cooling, and seems to catch some water that the column let's escape. the column is packed with steel wool.

i took the dc fan off this coil and bought a cheapo 5 dollar fan. then i saw a cheaper one a a thrift store. @#^@$

It runs on 110 and never get's above 152 on the column(head temp) maybe 154-155 on a warm day.
haven't had one lately so we'll see next year.
I fill from the top. and i have an extra tube i attatch to the pump to empty it into a clean barrel.
