Was is the best way to use the mazzei venturi to help with methanol recovery from biodiesel? I have an appleseed with a plumber's delight condensor. My single pump sends hot BD to the top of the appleseed. I use a small aquarium pump and a cork with a hole in it (for the air hose) to pump air into the reactor to help increase the rate of recovery. I assume a venturi would a better job of this and I want to integrate it into my design.

For a 50-45 gallon batch of biodiesel, I run methanol recovery for about 12 hours and I'd like to decrease this time as well as increase my purity (which is at 93% currently).

From the Biodiesel not the glycerin right?

Either you have to use a second tank or make an apple turnover. That's because the glycerin trapped in the bottom of the tank could cause a reverse reaction when you remove the methanol.

Something like this:

Rick, I currently recover directly from my appleseed after draining the glycerine.

It looks like, from your drawing, that the venturi uses a closed loop system to both draw air into the condesor and add bubbles to the biodiesel as it splashes back into the reactor/pot. That's brilliant!
