Does anyone have any ideas for how to get a fan spray pattern inside a sealed methanol recovery tank? I was thinking of something along the lines of this, but it's a bit expensive and I'm not sure of how to get it inside the top of a water heater. I imagine something similar could be made by hacksawing slits into a cap or a capped piece of pipe, but again the issue would be getting it down into the 3/4" fitting on top of the tank while keeping everything sealed. Thanks

Why do you think something like that is necessary?

From reading 40+ pages of the GL threads, apparently increasing the surface area of heated methanol-laden biodiesel allows the methanol to evaporate more easily, therefore shortening recovery time and energy requirements (i.e. similar to using the same set up to more quickly dry water washed biodiesel). Am I missing something?

Ahhh, OK I thought we were talking about still type meth recovery, carry on.

I may not be clear on the difference in terminology, but doesn't attaching a condenser column to a water heater based processor effectively turn it into a "still" if you've drained glycerine and are heating and circulating the biodiesel in an attempt to distill the remaining methanol?

It would be a still but just attaching a condensor makes it a very crude one, any real attempt at high purity methanol recovery would require some form of reflux capacity, but if you just want to get rid of the meth in finshed bio and are not worried about purity this is not necessary.
