well me and my buddies moonshine'in grandpa, recovered about one and a half gallons of methanol on sunday. We did have about 12 gallons of byproduct. not to sure about the exact amount of glys. in those twelve gallons.
he called me tonight and said "you get on that there puter, and find a recipe to make methanol" i've done some searching but everyone is talks about makeing ethonal. i found one forum post from some miss. site saying " just put a bunch of dry sawdust in your stil and cook it" but thats not doin it for me.
can you guys point me in the right direction?

Bad news, It takes about an acre of trees to get a gallon of methanol using distillation methods. The commercial plants make it out of natural gas at pressures and temperatures that you don't want anywhere near the house. Bottom line is it's not economical to make methanol. Stick with ethanol, grandpa already knows how to make that.
