What type or brand of pump is being used in your methanol still?
I started with a HF pump but was a little concerned about the temps.
I ordered a Taco 007-F5 and have had trouble with it after the second batch. From the 'O' ring rolling out to the pump quiting completely. Yes, I know a new cartridge can be ordered - I can gat a new pump for 3 dollars more - and lets not get into 'O' ring prices.
Anyway - what type of pump are you using.
I'ld appreciate a PM.

My friends don't use pumps, they use internal paint stirrers instead.

Hi senior,

The Taco pumps use a friction ring in the impeller to attach to the shaft. So when they get full of hot oil it starts to slip and will eventually stop completely. What i have done is grind a small flat on the shaft and drilled and tapped the friction ring for a set screw. The O rig has always been a PITA to get back in on these but I don't think you need a new punp.
