Hi,
I happened upon your forum and this thread in particular during a Google search. Yes, this my first post. No, I do not have any affiliation with Diesel Secret. I use my real name in all my postings on about a hundred different auto forums so please don't accuse me of being a shill. I make parts for many kinds of auto engines. There, the obligatory intro for this thread. Well, I was just wondering if someone here could respond to the rebuttals that DSE gives on their website: http://www.dieselsecret.com/competition.html I think the stated problem with the varying MSDS sheets seems important. I don't have either of them at hand to check them out but it sounds like some respondants could provide this information. Anyway, if you read their answers it is almost like they are addressing this forum. Kind regards, Kevin |

Hi Daniel,
I read your site -- you sound like a naturally gifted research chemist. Oh, I am not a shill for Daniel. Best to mention that. I like your thoughts on salt being the primary problem -- who could have known -- salt in the American diet? Laugh! Good luck in your research. Kevin

Hi ST, If you put in the search terms "Kevin Johnson" and "crank scraper" in Google you'll get about 152 hits. Most are for different forums. I manufacture more windage control parts for more different engines from more different marques than any other company in the world. Check it out. Anyway, back to diesel secrets... any thoughts on my query? |

Hello Kevin,
What exactly was your query that has not already been covered many times over the last few years on this forum? |

Yes, well, I am wondering if anyone has done the most basic cross analysis of the MSDS sheets that are/should be in circulation. Seems to me that is a quick and dirty way to support or refute much of the info that is purported to be from this company. Edit: I will try not to ask the questions that have already been covered. |

DSE is Xylene and Benzene in an expensive bottle. It's way cheaper and better to use stale Jet-B helicopter fuel: Composition and Information on Ingredients Kerosene + C5- 11 Naphtha, Solvent Extract including: A COMPLEX COMBINATION OF C9-C16 HYDROCARBONS PRODUCE BY DISTILLATION OF CRUDE: n-Hexane Cumene Trimethylbenzene Napthalene Ethylbenzene Benzene 7 Toluene Cyclohexane Xylene (mixed) Jet-B is commonly used in helicopters operating in temperatures below freezing. After a year or so, unused fuel must be disposed. Stale Jet-B would be similar to a mix of stale RUG and #1 winter diesel. It does not matter what the 'secret' ingredient is, or not. Once you have clear dry oil, filtered to 5µ, and diluted with kerosene/winter diesel/Jet-A/B helicopter fuel/RUG...etc., then it does not make much difference what cupful of 'additives' you want to include. It could be Jet-B, it could be acetone + turpentine, it could be just about anything and it wouldn't make a measurable difference except in what you paid for it. --.- ..- . ... - .. --- -. / .- ..- - .... --- .-. .. - -.-- '89 Toyota 3.4L TDI + FPHE BD+ULSD+VO+JetB blends |
