yes yes yes, it's all scheduled.
Hotels- unless you know the area, the easiest is probably finding a chain hotel in Emeryville (not sure of the pricing)- that's a mall/chain store zone (christie ave, Shellmound Ave, Emery Bay mall, etc) about 1 1/2 miles from where the class is (there's a bus that goes up San Pablo Ave which you can take if you don't rent a car). If that's too expensive, there are also hotels on University Ave in Berkeley but I have NO idea how good they are. The Best Western looks legitimate, there are others that may be either 'cheap' or just plain sketchy. See a Lonely Planet Guide for suggestions. The Class location is right off of San Pablo Ave and Ashby Ave. ************ Fall 2008 Biodiesel Classes: NY, FL, and OK, and more: www.girlmark.com/tour Biodiesel Homebrew Guide: www.localb100.com/book.html Diary of a Mad Scientist blog http://girlmark.com/blog |

GM,
I would be interested in an advanced class in Michigan. I attended your class in St. Louis last May and found it to be very informative. If you are interested there are some pics of my setup on the biodieselstl site. The smell of my exhaust makes me hungry! |

Thanks for the comments about the St Louis class- are you the one with the really cool multi-tank processor setup photos, with the manifold for methanol/fumes handling?
As for the Michigan class, it'll definitely happen. I'll email them again to try to set dates right now. I'll be doing a two-day beginners class one weekend and a two-day advanced class the following weekend, and am considering running a SECOND two-day beginners class the Thur/Friday before the advanced class (so you could take a beginners class either on a weekend or on the Thur/Fri). The idea behind that is that even though I"ll have smaller attendance per each beginners' class if I do so, it'll make it possible for folks to travel there from outside the state, stay in a hotel for four days, and get the entire 'Boot Camp' experience from beginning to advanced, but still allow locals to come to all four days just on weekends without missing workdays. ************ Fall 2008 Biodiesel Classes: NY, FL, and OK, and more: www.girlmark.com/tour Biodiesel Homebrew Guide: www.localb100.com/book.html Diary of a Mad Scientist blog http://girlmark.com/blog |

Post those over on biodieselpictures.com, would ya? It's not possible for non-members of the STL list to view the STL list photo album.

I have been patiently waiting for my registration to clear at the biodieselpicture site. I received the first email confirm but not the follow up. I guess Graydon is busy. When it comes through I will post the pics there.

Well it wasn't that Graydon was busy it was due to my not comprehending the instructions. It must be my lack of focus again
So now the pics are on the site on the appleseed board. The smell of my exhaust makes me hungry! |

I would love to attend but it says that I should attend the basics class first. That is not possible on the 17th & 18th but I could make the advanced class on the 24th if allowed. Is there anywhere I can go and purchase your Homebrewing guide in person? I work very close to Berkley but the Biodiesel Oasis does not have a copy for the last couple of weeks and I am anxious to get started. a mechanic that has had his own shop for the last 20 or so years has offered me some space to start making biodiesel. He would like to start using it if we can make it.

I attended the beginner's class in Ocean City, MD in 2005, and I would be interested in an advanced class there (or anywhere within 4 hours drive of Philadelphia) should you ever decide to offer it. Been making biodiesel now for a couple of months and am ready to experiment

I would be interested in taking your class in PA and will keep checking back for the dates. The setup your planning in Mi would be great with a beginner class one weekend and the advanced glass the next weekend if it fits your schedule. My experience is limited to a few small batches but I have been reading the forums for quite some time, Hope to have a processer built by late spring. |

I'm toying w/ the idea of coming late on Saturday... still have to work some things out, but it's looking possible.
I'll be in Chico, CA that weekend. Sounds like it'll be a great crowd! -Graydon

I'm in I know that for sure. Getting my things lined up for the course.
I'm particularly interested in the waterless washing of biodiesel part of the curriculum. The Powersmoke 1986 Ford F250 4x4 6.9L diesel Hypermax Turbo, C6 Automatic with shift kit, cowl induction (intercooler on the list), Frantz oil cleaner, Synthetics in diffs, transmission and transfer case. Gear Vendors overdrive installed. Mobil Delvac 15W40 oil with Powerstroke oil filter for 11 quarts oil capacity. Motor Silk Boric Oxide friction reducers in engine and transmission. More mods on the way. 1973 Dodge Monaco "Elwood", eventually to be converted to run on methane (biogas). Currently building a 'bio-bus', a 40' diesel bus with a massive onboard GL-type reactor with onboard workshop and diesel generator. Possible biodiesel classes may be taught as soon as the bus is done. And other wheeled secret weapons. |

Mark,
Great job with the course this weekend. It was fun and you covered a lot of ground. Also, it was really nice to hear the quality control issues talk from Dr. Randal von Wedel. Thanks for a great class. Andrew |

When you all get pictures, I'd love to see them.
Thanks so much for letting me & the guy's from AGR come to dinner. I especially loved watching the dragon's. It was truly amazing. It was so fun to see Lyle, you (Andrew), Mark & the rest of the crew that was there. I just wish I'd remembered to bring in my camera with me. Thanks again & hope the class went well. I understand you're all pro's at the 3/27 test now. -Graydon
