I tried to pre wash 10 gal of hi ffa oil 12.8 koh as soon as i added the water thru the methoxide port it emulsified and the pump would not pump i cleaned the lines and the pump worked ok the oil was a thicker consistency but pumped ok also it is murkier i drained the pump and the lines and it seems to be separating normally i think the water forced in by the pump with too much pressure does anybody have any other ideas as to why this happened please let me know

You dont give enough information.

I used to get horrific emusions due to the impeller of my pump being so fast it was like a whisk.

But I only ever had an emulsion once when doing the 5% prewash; thats when i did an experiment and added 7%. So maybe you added too much water.
High titrating oil is always liable to be troublesome.

I would recommend a dry wash method - no emulsions, no waiting for days for drying, no waste of hot water, and greatly reduced hands-on time.

The 5% water prewash is normally done on biodiesel at the end of the reaction. If you want to wash your oil with water it's usually best to do it very gently.

I have some extra drums in Kennesaw that I need to get rid of.
If you want any of them let me know.

I did it after the reaction and i think it was caused by the speed of the pump impeller i do have enough drums thanks for the offer
