I’m ecstatic about my new idea. It doesn’t matter what your method of disposing of glycerin involves. The bag in the box trick will simply make your life much easier.

A lion share of beverage products served at restaurants are delivered in 5-gallon bag in the boxes. What you see in this picture is an empty bag and one that is filled with 5 gallons of the by-product. The plumping you see can be done in a variety of ways. The bags do not seem to be affected by biodiesel and are double lined. The places where you get your oil will be glad to let you take the empty bags from the boxes.

The trick is to put a few pounds of pressure in the reactor through one of the ball valves using a rubber blowgun tip. You can wrap a bunch of electrical tape around the rubber tip if it is not large enough to fill the gap in the barb fitting. This also is a great tick if your glycerin won’t drain properly. A common problem when using partially hydrogenated oil and a glyc pre-wash.

Once the vessel has a little pressure, screw on the bag in the box connector and open the valve. Within seconds the bag is full of waist product. The single check valve prevents the product from leaking out of the bag once it is unscrewed from the red redhead-dispensing valve. You can place the original cap (found on bag when first opened) back on the bag for an extra margin of safety. I also place the bag in a black plastic garbage bag before filling the bag. Using the garbage bag as a handle makes it much easier to move the bag around.

The glycerin pre-wash also has the added benefit of solidifying in your bag after a day or two (at least in the cooler weather). This bag is almost like a concrete bag.

I did a search on the following terms. You should be able to find some on eBay
Coke hose connector, redhead, BIB, or Bag in the box.

Visit this person’s eBay store.

Don, your Manager may be willing to order you one of the Redheads. Most large restaurant chains can order parts from Coke USA that cost less than $15 dollars at no charge. That’s how I was able to get a couple of extra (CiCi’s Pizza franchisee). You can't believe how well this works.

Does anybody think the city would care if I put these with my weakly trash pickup?

I would guess that you have never seen gyl with the methanol removed..yes even using KOH. and cooler temp. its more like cold honey than water..
ok. now that its in this nice bag then what do you do with it??
throwing it out wastes methanol.. and at $2+/gallon this adds up quick..

Reggie,
Don't trash it. If you remove the methanol, give it to the Resturants for degreasing the floors and such. Add a little water and it will stay liquid. The last thing you want to do is dump it.

The glyc pre-wash was does something to the waist product. This bag is so hard that I can stand on it. My next batch I will be using regular soy oil. It may be different than the partially hydrogenated stuff I have been using.

I just paid $100.00 for a 55-gallon drum. Thank you Bobby Joe (Academy racetrack). I am in the process of selling my home. It’s bad enough having a garage full of 55 gallon barrels and a funny looking water heater hooked to a pump. I just can’t bring myself to hooking up a bunch of coiled copper or a radiator to my other contraptions. I’m sure those that look at the house already think I am crazy enough

Ridley, let me explain as the weekly vs. weakly. I have Dyslexia, so many of my posts probably have other mistakes as well. It helps if I walk away from the post for awhile and re-read it before hitting the send button. This one got past me.
