Justin - Not being a chemist in any respect, I have no idea what epi.... (whatever) is or what it's used for. However, there are several members on here from time to time that appear to be chemists and may be able to talk/post knowledgeably about it. Keep an eye out on this forum for replies.

On a side note - If you can find a way to produce and use epi.... (whatever), I've got several 5 gal. containers of glycerol I'd be more than glad to let you have. I'm sure almost the entire forum would be interested in knowing how to get rid of their excess glycerol.

Are you going to be making this nasty stuff? Or just writng a paper on it? It's very reactive and quite a health hazard. I doubt you will get much assistance on this board, as few of us make epoxies or rocket propellant.

Rice uni people have a way of producing ethanol from the glyc. Ethanol from Biodiesel Glycerine

And then there is expensive chems from the BD glycerine.

But won't that be a good thing for those that are more ECO friend than People friendly. Once we are all dead the planet can still live. LOL
