I have two 300 hundred gallon totes--got a good deal--now I have to firgure out how to step the opening down to a garden hose--or find some other way to pump it out.
I just have water in them now--but would like to but oil and biodiesel in them at sometime.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Pumping into those is easy. To get it back out again we have a 1" pvc pipe that is long enough to reach the bottom of the poly tank. This pipe has an elbow on the top with the proper size banjo cam that will attach to your suction hose/pump. Remember to cut the bottom of your suction pipe at an angle so it does not suck to the bottom of the tank. You could also build a platform and gravity dump out of the bottom bung. Works well for us. Good luck.

Get a gas powered water pump because you are going to need it later to deal with that much oil.

I just bought an adaptor from Bay Area Biodiesel Supply. It adapts to 2" NPT whhich could then be stepped down to garden hose or whatever.

Tote Adaptor

I haven't received mine yet, but I'm hoping the buttress threads on all totes are the same and it will fit my smaller 125 gal one.

The valve on totes are 2" pipe threads, just go down to local harware store and get a 2"threaded to 2" slip pvc adapter, then a 2" slip to 3/4inside thread pvc bushing, at that point you can put a 3/4 to hose adapter or a hose bib.

We use a self priming transfer pump.

It has an elbow on the suction side with a long pipe that we drop in from the top. The pipe does not go all the way to the bottom to prevent sucking up crap. If I want to reach the bottom I slide a short hose onto the end of the pipe.

I use a 2" gas powered trash water pump. Cam lock fittings are the way to go here. It makes really short work of a 275 gal tote.

Pgreen or anyone else,

What would be the list of connections I would need to go from a 275 gallon tote bottom ball valve to an input of a trash type pump, and then into my transfer 275 gallon tote? Thanks again!

My collection tote has male 2" pipe thread at the valve. I added a 2" male camlock to it. I assembled a short 2" pvc pipe with 2" female camlock. I connect it to the tote, and lift the tote with my skid steer and aim the pvc pipe into the top of my stationary settling tote and open the valve. The collection tote empties into the setteling tote quickly.

If you do not have lifting equipment
1)male camlock-MC-to tote 2)female camlock-FC-to 2"suction hose to MC 3)FC to pump inlet 4)MC at pump outlet 5)FC to suction hose**this hose will really be pressurised**to MC 6) place the last MC into the top opening of last transfer tote. Start the engine and once the pump primes, oil will move quickly.

Note-suction hoses can be used for suction or pressure. A pressure hose can only be used for pressure.
