But I felt that even a Little support is better than none.

I wish I were in a position to help beyond mere words but I suppose even positive thoughts help a person when things are bad.

I know that my daughters were sick last week and members of a forum I am on and members of my own supported us during a real bad weekend which involved my 3 year old in the hospital with an IV. The words meant a lot so I guess it's my turn.

I truly hope things are up and running again for you soon. it looks to me like you have a great community of support right here and hopefully one more voice helps a little.

God bless..

How are your injurys?

Thanks much. My burns are on the mend there will probably be some scarring.
The insurance co has not made any effort to pay
I believe them to be trying to build a case against me to deny payment . I have seeked legal advise...what a pita.
I Hope your daughter is well..

nothing yet
without slamming a specific company i am beginning to think i am NOT in such "good hands".
They tell me now that they are awaiting
appraisel reports ..which i guess is positive.
BMy Burns have healed there may be some scarring.
and much to my wonderful supportives wifes dismay ..I am thinking about staring up production.
I would build the shed.. I couldn' reccomend
doing this in an attached structure to anyone
especially if you use heat to process,
maybe i am just paranoid.
So the new processor is going to be solar
and away from the house.Actually Ilike the idea of starting over as i can change alot of what i did in the first place..reinvent the wheel..
Could be fun..

OB1;
Try a little sage oil on the scarring, it could help make it less noticeable, especialy now that it is still fresh.
Hope the "good hands" people don't drop the ball...

I appreciate you posting your accident for all of us to read.

I can't begin to express what I feel for you because I don't know what you feel.. Never had my home burn down so I'm not even going to pretend I understand your loss..

However,
I'd hate to burn down my work shop where I am setting it all up..
Now I'm thinking 2 things..

1. Install sprinklers on the ceilings?? (Not sure how much effect this will have on an oil fire)

2. Buy more fire extinguishers.

Interesting enough, I've been in two (Yes that's 2) fires in my life. Both were at other peoples places.. Both happened in the same freaking year!!! Both started in the damn kitchen.. One place burned to the ground, the other place had a fire extinguisher, smoke detectors, etc etc.

I'm a nut case when it comes to all aspects of safety.. People even tell me that I "over do it" just a bit..
I have a fire extinguisher in almost every room in my home and the kitchen has 1 on each side..

I hope your insurance company pays you but I do have one bit of bad information for ya..

If you have a mortgage on that home, your sailing in blue skies.. But, if you have paid it off, your going to have problems with the insurance company.

Insurance companies are in business to make money, not protect you.. If you owe on your home to a bank, the bank will protect you.. If you have it paid off, the insurance company knows it will cost you $30,000 or more to sue them and that's exactly what you'll have to do to get your money..

Good hands my a$$.. Insurance is a rip off..

Hey OB1,
Sorry to hear of your disaster. I am currently working out of my garage which is well ventilated with doors and windows open during mixing, and fire extinguisher close to hand. We have a volunteer FD in town and I surely don't want them to have to save me( too much embarrassment). Good luck in the future

I am devistated to hear about your loss, I am not posting this to find fault with anyone, But this is what I was informed to do before I even started, I purchased a coleman stove to do any work in garage with doors open or outside, I sure wish someone had mentioned this to others , I first thought that I could do it in the kitchen too but the person told me of the dangers ,wow, this one really hits home, I was warned if there is anything we can do to help , please let me know , can we start a collection with paypal for OB1 CANOLA ? Please post it for them when it is done , I wilkl be glad to help out

I hope all is well OB1! it's coming up on six months now, how are the scars healing, and how about (the good hands people) are they cooperative? Oh and I took your advice I built a 12x12 shed for processing after I made a heck of a mess in the garage.

Holy old thread, Batman! Based on the fact that his last post was on May 13, 2006 @ 08:33 AM it looks like he has left the forum.

Just seemed weird that right after this he stopped posting. I wondered if anyone might have known him and knew anything. maybe he just stopped posting for 'insurance reasons'.

Just seemed awful sudden.

solar electric or solar heat for the oil? It would take a lot of solar panels to heat oil.

I had a PM conversation with OB1 not long ago. He is doing well. The insurance finally paid on the house. OB1 has decided to take a break from biodiesel and spend more time with his family while he investigates new opportunities outside of biodiesel.
