Yes, please move the politico.... (some of us BD'ers are right wing, red state capitolists who none-the-less believe that some use our freedoms to take advantage of the little guys, and who have at least some environmental consciousness, and enjoy being self-sufficient, not to mention reeling from the dino price increases...)

I have a question in reference to the bumper stickers: Since we are to some degree flying under the radar in regards to tax issues when we "brew our own", is advertizing wise?

Also, if someone from the tax commission comes up to me & asks me about it, I've tracked every gallon I've used & if they get pushy, I have the ability to pay it on my income taxes.

In the US, the current FEDERAL LAW allows for up to 400 gallons of use per year in a PRIVATE (not commercial, not educational, not anything but PRIVATE USE) vehicle before FEDERAL EXCISE TAX on the fuel is necessary.

HOWEVER, each state can dictate it's own law on STATE EXCISE TAX on the fuel. (Honestly though, most states are "so on the ball" that they don't even know what biodiesel is & just tell you to go away & not bother them with "such petty things".---fine by me!

(Oh, and please, let's not turn this into a "Well, the constitution doesn't even SAY you have to pay taxes" thread. I'm just stating what the law says, not that I agree with it or that it's right--just the facts).

Great information...! Thanks, we will follow up the threads and take a look at where we are on taxes...

I work in an idustry that supplies materials for road construction and maintenance,so in a way my income is connected to the road tax on fuel. And, if in your state they ACTUALLY use this money for road work, it's a pretty "good" tax... meaning that it actually is a fee paid for using the roads, as opposed to the arbitrary income taxes and what they are sometimes used for.

That said, however, as a small producer, and with the attitude of some of the tax people in the state and federal levels, it is probably easier and smarter to lay low.... Still, I want to know what the law is and what problems it could cause....

They got a big thing on the TV in Canada lately about taking "The One Ton Challenge" to reduce toxic emissions ect.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it. The fact that it happens to be true is purely coincidental... sort of, ok maybe not, but it still is a good thing to use as a "reason" for brewing BD eh? <- pronounced "A" for the "huh?" crowd =:-)

Well, I went hog-wild with all of the great suggestions & made them available for anyone that's interested.

Like to take credit for it, but it's from the Roaring Forks Biodiesel Coop outside of Aspen.

A while ago, a member of this forum had on his website a sticker design which was a picture of a dinosaur attacking an oil drill. I reckon it was brilliant, but I can't for the life of me find it. Anyone out there know where it is or at least who or what i'm talking about?
