By the way, I wonder if people from outside the US understand the 'it's what's from dinner' joke.

We have had beef industry advertisements for decades now, which say somethihng like
'Beef- it's what's for dinner' > Not sure if you guys have anything similar in your countries.

great quote, what's significant about 1904?

Dont quote me on the year. I believe that was the year Rudolph diesel exhibited his one of his early diesel engines at a world fair. At that fair he used peanut oil.

To Graydon: Diesel Troopers do rock, no doubt about it! Big Grin As you can tell, I love my Isuzu too. Mt troopers get 25-27mpg all the time whether I am bringing in the hay(they tow hay trailers for me), cruising the outerbanks miles from a road fishing, cutting snow in the NC mountains or going on a date with my wife. Can't beat them. It a shame they are so rare or I would have more than 2 of them.

American advertising is quite pervasive. I am occasionally surprised from friends in Aus. and Great Britain as to how much Americanana they are aware of. My bumper sticker submission that includes a shameless Mastercard knock off would be recognized by many in the western societies.

Having said that, I'll bet the Amercian Beef Council thing is probably limited to us though.

The sticker selection:

If you'd like to see the stickers up close, we have images of some of them at our website, http://www.ybiofuels.org - go to the products page.

Also, and please take note of this, we are kind of holding an ongoing bumper sticker contest of our own, in that anybody with an idea that really impresses us will get it printed. We print all our own stickers here.

Cheers.

Na, it's still on B100 from my stash. But when B99.9 happens, I'm going to install a petroguard (tm) filter system and dino magnet in the tank to protect it from those hydrocarbons.

Hey OB 1

Your first slogan isn't really correct. I have a huge SUV and it has never seen a drop of Petrofuel.

Some SUV drivers do their part also.

Long ago and far away I proposed that we should "chip in" and have these
printed. I suppose if everybody fell off their wallets it could still happen ;-)

Actually SUV's are directly linked to the problem. The rationale goes like this ... The SUV was develepoed by the auto industry as a way around CAFE (class average fuel economy) laws. The laws had a loophole, the loophole was that trucks were exempted from fuel economy improvements as they were necessary for work, to keep the economy moving. Step back to the late eighties, remeber when the Suburban was a work vehicle? See any yuppies driving them then? Not bloody likely. So Detroit, upon saturating the minivan market wants something new, something they can charge alot for, enter the "truck" ... you can load it as luxury as you want because its fuel economy problem won't count against your company, after all its a work truck (hack, choke, puke).

How many diesel SUV's are there? Is it even 1% I doubt it. I say the less than 1% that are potentially OK simply serve as a distraction.

Bless you 1% ers. Glenn is right--as far as the mindest ofthe automaker and seller goes. I had a discussion with a Ford fleet manager just prior to the SUV explosion and his comments were identical: give the public what they want for less as these "trucks" circumvented the CAFE issue and compound that success with the fact that these "work trucks" now sold for a premium but were still cheaper to build. Same frame and chassis with a little extra sheetmetal and leather. Furthermore, "trucks" are not held to the same safety standards as cars, so that saved loads of cash, too.

Big biz will be big biz. Beleiving they care about you is like believing the hooker loves you. It is just not true. Sure, they want your money--and they will charm it from you any way possible. Just does not mean it is good in the long run.

Which spurns a possible sticker:

"Big Oil is hollow love.
Biodiesel is your life partner!" (attach those mudflap girls)
