Napa makes a ton of different filters, and I don't know what you mean by "BD" filter. I recommend that you take your purified, dry biodiesel and send it through a 10-micron or better (1-micron is ideal) filter. It helps to have a clear housing. It helps even more to have viton gaskets.

I was thinking of going with a 2 or 1 micron. When I say BD filter I was talking about is there a difference between a bio diesel (BD)approved filter and a reg diesel filter? Thank you. 2007 Chevy Duramax Bio Pro-150 |

G'day Lindsay;
I use a CAT 2 micron can as a final filter after the resin beds. I have the 49 model but if smaller with the same micron rating (2) is prefered the 50 model will do the job. You can see how I use it here. Note on the chart the size comparison of what 2 microns is like. This can go a long way to saving the OME filter on your vehicle once the residual gunk gets cleaned out. I use these: http://www.jmesales.com/item/122416/Cim-Tek-Biodiesel-B...er-E85-M85-B100.aspx
They are a little pricey but they are 1 micron biodiesel /e85 filters. thanks nitroman |

I have always used the non BG rated filters from JMEsales instead of the more expensive BD rated ones with no ill effect. I have cut apart used ones and found no soft rubber or mesh.

I use a NAPA hydrualic filter for my Fass fuel system, the filter I use is a 10 micron. Cummins recomends a 16 micron filter. It seems to me that useing a 1-micron filter could be and is overkill, but it won't hert anything thats for sure, Just for a propective note most water filters are 5 micron for water machines and ice makers and drinking foutains.

I know this is off topic but I think my duramax filter is a 4 micron? If that is the case I would want to keep it as fine as I could right?

Not off topic, and yes you would. Before using resin purification I ran my BD through twin 2 micron CAT cans. I now only use one. ** 7 engines on B100**My reactor/processor :B100WH.com **The Colaborative Biodiesel Tutorial **Make Biodiesel.org ** Veggie Energy 4 Diesels -a Newcomer's Hardware Guide ** Biodiesel Glycerine Soap - Make & sell soap from Biodiesel Glycerine |
