I only ask this because I THINK the bio was eating the rubber seal around the potentiometer on the fuel sending unit on my suburban. I went through 3 in 3 years.
Has anyone had any issues with the fuel sending unit (gauge reader) in a dodge truck running BIO? I'm wondering if I'm in for the same thing.
1st 10 gallons of bio are in the 12v and no issues yet!!!
I have been running anything from B5 to B100 for a year now in a 2007 Dodge Ram and have had virtually no problems. The only "problem" I had was a check engine light that came on a couple times when I was running near B100 and ambient temperatures were below 50F... apparently biodiesel is a little more prone to gelling... I have run B100 since the temps rewarmed and still no recurrence of the check engine light.
I only burn cold veg blends in my 92 Dodge, with the thicker oil in the tank the guage sometimes goes to empty due to the oil insulating the slider contacts from making contact with the fixed contacts on the sender, it eventually works again for a while. I recently pulled the sender and cleaned it plus increased the pressure between the contacts by bending them, don't know if the added pressure will stay long-term, probably not, time will tell.
This links to a running discussion about the truck, there are pictures and info about the fuel sender.
