I made my first batch with the DR. Pepper method. Seemed pretty sraight forward I used new canola oil which I didn't boil since it was new, methanol from a new bottle of yellow HEET and Roebic 100% lye. Its been 24 hours and it seperated but there is about a 1/2" layer of carmel color on top the rest is nice clear oil looks just like the original canola. Isn't the dark color supposed to be on the bottom?

Yeah, I had the same thing happen to my batch. The only thing I did was assume the part with the larger volume is the usable bio-diesel and used that. I proceeded to wash that quantity just like if it was bio-diesel. Any advice from someone experienced would be good too.
