Yep, everyone agrees that canola is best, especially for winter conditions. If you cant get canola soya oil is very good and used by lots of friers. I get canola and soya from my suppliers and I just mix them - theyre great.

Hi all I am new to all this. I have made my first test batch (exciting stuff) of three litres using the Dr. Pepper method. Going to boil the methanol off then... not sure... filter probably.

I shall have a look if there is a place for newbies to tell a bit about themselves later.

Back to the subject. Is Canola oil and Rapeseed oil one and the same? A friend runs a Chinesse takeaway and has offered to off load his used oil onto me.

Since I am new, I am sure I will be asking many more questions.
