helo everybody,
iam new to this forum and biodiesel.i made successful batches with freshoil and used oils.
acid oil is not at working out for me.if i titrate it,the amount of catalyst to use comes up to 100gms per litre of oil.
guys who r making with acid oil please help me.hope somebody will help me.

100g/L! Holy Sh!t! Are you sure your titration solution is correct?

If so, search for "Reducing FFA" in these forums. There are quite a few pre-treatments, oil washing, baking soda, sodium bicarbonate, and other stuff to lower the FFA initially, and if that still doesn't help, you are going to have to use the 2-Step Acid/Base method rather than the simpler 1-Step Base Method.

The BEST method, though, is to get a source with better oil! And if you REALLY don't want to just chuck that other oil, mix in a little in each batch until its gone.

I shoot for 5-7g/L titration (12-14 total for KOH).

You can use a mix concentration formula to get an idea of the volumes to use of high and lower titrating oil to get a mix that is close to your goal;

Tf = (V1*T1 + V2*T2) / (V1 + V2)

where V = volume
T = titration
1 is for oil 1
2 is for oil 2
and Tf is final titration of the mix.

thanx for your help.i searched for reducing FFA and got some helpful information.

i got acid oil from another source and the result is even more alarming.

once i reduce the ffa i will let u know how it turns.
