I searched for white spirit in WVO and does not find anything newer than 2005.

A guy bought a brand new 2007 Mercedes,A-class 180CDI, which can be converted to 2 tank, according to Elsbett, but the owner is persistant that mixing WS with WVO will solve his converting problems.....

I deny it, but what is fact by now? Facts please no guessing. Smile

1. How do diesel mix with WVO?
2. How do WS mix with WVO
3. How do other liquids mix with WVO?

Is there any facts out the which I can not find?

Would appreciate something to feed the Mercedes owner.

Paint thinner aka White Spirit isn't commonly used for thinning VO fuel in N.America where there are less expensive options. It's mostly used in Britain where the fuel tax structure makes thinning with kerosene, gasoline or diesel fuel more expensive than WS.

Thanks John, I'll do.

Following question, what do you use more of in US?
And how is it documented the effect of it?

I suspect that the most commonly used solvents are: #1 ULS Diesel, kerosene/stove oil, stale gasoline, and jet fuel, in that order... but I'm just guessing.

I don't understand the question.

Sorry John, it was unclear.
What I ment, how well does ULS Diesel, kerosene/stove oil, stale gasoline, and jet fuel mix with the WVO.
Is there any studies done, like laboratorie tests, or chemical documentation ?

What do we have of facts today after so many years of trial and error?

I've mixed #1 ULS Diesel, and kerosene/stove oil with clear dry used canola oil, and have observed no separation of components until the mix starts to gel at extreme cold temperatures, providing that ALL the hydrogenated oil is removed from the used VO. If there is any HO in the oil this HO will separate out around 0°C.
I'm not familiar with any documented scientific studies to support this observation.
