Has anybody converted a 1989 International Diesel to SVO or WVO? Any input would be appreciated.

I have been running my 86 F250 for 18,000 miles and counting on WVO. Converted in May. Coldest start thus far was 14F. glow plug relay is bad they are wired in to a push button on dash, I held for 10 sec and she fired right up. ran rough for a few minutes but I was running veggie about 3 miles down the road after approx 10 idleing in the driveway to warm up. do a search for posting with my name and you'll find full discription of the setup and full account of all problems I had early on.

I drive this thing nearly 150 miles a day 7 days a week. No issues anymore. runs great and very very quiet for a diesel. Have had several people comment that it is a quiet as a gas engine.
This is the 6.9 Liter navistar engine non turbo

86 F250 veggie since May 2005 25,000 miles and counting

Hi Trainer Rod,

I own a 1996 International short bus, model 3800 T444E. Yet to convert it, looking to make it happen soon. I will share any info I find and would appreciate the same from you.

SVO gurus, correct me if I'm wrong, but...the one recommendation I can give off the bat it don't pay for a second gas tank. Use a pickle barrel or a 55 gallon drum. I understand the latter can be found at car wash stations.

Filters: on monday, I am planning on purchasing the 1000FH filter by Greasel. You're going to want a very large filter, given how much grease must flow through it. This one has a cheap replacable cartridge and the largest mileage per filter I've found out there.

Collection pump: with 10 mpg, sock filters are going to be problematic. Greasel has a new collection pump. I've attached a picture. It uses the same cartridge as the 1000FH, trouble is, it costs $850!!! I think these things can be assembled, just have no clue how.

Hope this helps. PLEASE share any and all info you find. Anyone have a blueprint for veggie-oil conversions on an international School bus?

-Benjy

I'm thinking of buying a 1995 International with a Navistar 444E engine. Would love to hear any followups from y'all if you ever made the conversion. Thanks.

This engine is the the same as Ford 's 7.3 Powerstroke ( aka Ford PSD )

Search these forums for those - http://biodiesel.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/frm/f/159605551
, www.frybrid.com , www.fattwagons.com . You will find plenty of WVO stuff there . Also look at the forums at www.dieselstop.com for lots of information about the engine .

I have a 1987 F250 with the IH engine. I've been runnning it on SVO for about 1 1/2 years. Runs great!! I'm in the process of getting a centrifuge going to filter the oil.

I've been trying different filters and decided on a centrifuge. I've bought almost everything and plan on putting it togeather this weekend. I'm tired of replacing all of the filters!!

I am in the process of converting my van. It is a 89' E350 7.3l International. Still has the ambulance package as far as a 200 amp Alternator and transistor and what not. The van is awesome, I bought it about a year ago and found it had some serious oil leaks, I really couldn't find where the leaks were it was so bad. So I changed out all the seals. Pain in the @%%. So now I am back to the original plan at hand. I am ordering all the parts this week so that maybe next week I might begin the assembly. I am told that the International runs great on SVO so I am stoked about that. I am making a list of places that you can go to if you are ordering parts on the net as I am, for those of you that are interested.
1. fattywagon.com
- injection line heater wire
- Fuel filter heater
2. Ebay
- Flat plate heat exchanger, you can get a 30
plate heater for 100$ just look for it.
1/2" ports.
3. plantdrive.com
- (2) 3 way port valves, or if you can find a
6 way port valve with enough flow, let me
know.
- veg therm max (make sure it comes with relay
and circuit breaker)
4. redlinepumps.com
- look into the model: mp2000rs their are
other models which might look better to
you. I like this one.
5. mercedessource.com
- look under SVO components on the 3rd pg.
for the brass bushing and glow plug kit if
you are interested in heating the tank in
this way.

I am looking into also putting a heating pad on the tank if anyone knows of where to get one. It should just stick right to the bottom.

Also I am wondering how to find the spec for the lift pump. I'm wondering if it has enough PSI. I'm wondering if you can deadhead it. (blockoff)

Well take care ya'll and stay green.
