You mean Methanol and Lye? These two are combined to make methoxide. If you are in the "Lower Mainland" of British Columbia you can try Advanced Chemicals in Port Coquitlam. Good luck, be careful.

No, I am referring to Methoxide / Methylate. I was informed this is a better chemical to use than mixing Lye and Methanol. Do you disagree?

I have been quoted for 1 MT of pure sodium methylate. Each 25 KG container works out to approx. $250 delivered to me in Vancouver BC. The volume is more than required at this point. Would anyone be interested in buying 25 KG containers from me.

Hello,
I am brand new to all of this, so please forgive any "faux paus" here.... I live in Abbotsford, BC and I am looking to make biodiesel. I became very disheartened when I was unable to find access to methenol and my project has sat, stalled, for months now. Anyone have some advice or want to go in on a bulk amount? BTW - I just found out that I'm "expecting"...so I am unable to handle or lift large amounts but I am willing to drive most anywhere and may be able to convince a spare set of hands to come along and help me with the dirty work! |

I cant think of anyone who is going to pay a fortune for something like sodium methylate just to save mixing the methanol and lye themselves.
Get real. |

Since I haven't had much luck with a bulk source on the east coast of Canada, I've resorted to getting my methanol in 4 liter jugs from Home Depot for $7.85 plus tax.
My local Home Hardware agreed to match the price since I'm buying a lot. It's much closer for me. Cheers Donnie |

Welcome to the site. I am also looking for some useful methanol this weekend. I will try the wet stuff though. I am conducting my further esterification study now. |

Last year at this time we were interested in purchasing Sodium Methylate. Now we are selling Sodium Methylate as we purchased a large volume to keep our costs per unit down. We are located in Vancouver BC Canada. At the moment we are selling 25 kg barrels for $350. This is pure powder form. Contact us if you are interested.
