Thought I'd start a list of useful surplus and equipment stores for us Canadians.

Listing non-BD specific sites with useful equipment that may assist in making BD production or testing equipment, or with parts that may come in handy for biodiesel or SVO conversions. Or with parts or equipment that may be useful for alternative energy uses, or for cogeneration or have diesel equipment that can be put to use with BD, etc etc.

Princess Auto All kinds of surplus mechanical, hydraulic, farm and shop equipment. Often has many types of pumps. Some good deals on surplus sales. Check often.

Forest City Surplus These guys occasionally have some interesting stuff. Think they had some small diesel engines a while back, but they're gone now. They have lab equipment that could be useful for checking your batches and doing titrations with etc. Check it every month or so.

Active Surplus In Toronto, mostly electronics, and you have to go in and browse, may have some useful small motors and pumps from time to time, also thermostats and temp control, some lab glassware, they have had the odd larger alternator/generator, but not all the time. Worth a look if you're in the area.

Bear in mind that surplus sites have rapidly changing stock and availability, so they are worth checking on a regular basis for good cheap equipment.

I am considering buying a diesel car, and therefore hoping to find a biodiesel supply.
Can anyone tell me if a biodiesel supplier exists in or near Toronto?

The best guys for chemicals in BC are Univar

I know there is one in the TO area they made a splash on the news (Global I think)

For some reason I think it's out towards Missisauga.

It's worth the drive to Missassauga.....

Another good place for plumbing parts (i.e. for making an Appleseed Processor) is DEETAG in East London. All black steel stuff (not galvanized) and good prices .

I got my pump at Crappy Tire btw, (it was cheaper than Princess Auto .)

TSC has good stuff for the Appleseed too (i.e. plumbing and tubing) and I also get my Methanol there.
