On second thought, maybe I'll use one bottle of HEET per two separate 2-liter bottles with .85 L of oil in each bottle. Well, gotta drink more soda tonight. My question still remains is the HEET bottle good enough to add the teaspoon of lye ?

Kwong,
Yes, HDPE will handle the methoxide fine. Just be careful that there is room in the bottle for the caustic. It will get very warm as well. Not enough to melt the plastic, but enough to put some pressure in the bottle-be careful when opening it. Also, it is hard to see through the yellow plastic to know when all the lye is disolved. Thanks Joe, I was concerned that the methoxide would disintegrate the bottle. I'm much rather play with the quantity of vegetable oil and limit my exposure to methanol and methoxide than the other way around.
