I made a batch of biodiesel today with my students at school. This morning I couldn't find the dry Raeobic at Lowe's so I grabbed the liquid version. Then later I thought about what else might be in the bottle etc. Long story short I used the liquid Raeobic for the test batch and don't know if it's going to work. So my question is, has anyone used the liquid version successfully?
Thanks, Jon.

No, it most likely will not work. The liquid version has water in it. Water kills the transesterification reaction. It will make soap. Try another Lowes. Roebic Crystal Drain Opener is 100% sodium hydroxide. HTH

Ya, it was pretty milky this morning when I got to the school. I'll try another batch this weekend. I returned the liquid last night and a lady that worked there (she did my return) said they had the crystal version too. So we searched and searched... For what ever reason they couldn't figure out, the crystal Raeobic was in a different location. So, I bought the right stuff this time and am ready to go with another batch.

I used the same stuff(Reobic Professional Drain Cleaner Liquid for 3 small test batchs. I used 1 litre fresh soy oil, 250 then 220 of methanol and 4 then 5gm of lye. i then used the same as above but used Naoh dry lye 6gm. All tests yielded 3/4 full bottom of honey colored with 1/4 clear lighter honey on top. The glcerin never turned the dark color as the photos. I am a newbie and wonder how much glycerin is suppose to be in the test batch and how much bd should be in the test. All the pictures show a small quantity of dark glycerin in the bottom with a large quantity of bd on top. HELP I,m confused. Ken
