Search on hot pan test to determine if you have too much water. It hasn't been compared to accurate tests like the karl fischer or sandy brae, but it detects somewhere around 500ppm = 0.05%, and that is the water limit most of us have been using.

read about pan test. i use it from time to time. but pan test does not give me a number.

so here we go. got my results on pump diesel and K-1.

all tets were done by a PhD Anylitical Chemist here at work.

D#2 from hess truck stop on rt13.7068%
k-1 from sothern on rt10 .7883%
bd100 unwashed .29%
settled and filtered WVO .28%
wvo un filterd fresh from fryer .32%

okay so how much is to much??

people have been adding one fuel treatment or another to #2 for years to disperse water. why not just do the same with Bio-D and WVO, after the bulk water is settled out?

(i will say that isoheet will not mix totally with wvo unless either a petro product or BD is present.)

does any one else have anylitical results for their fuel sources.

i will ask her to give me a repeat in a few weeks. once i can get some fresh BD to test.

bro frank,
the test results specially on diesel seem quite high. Is that within regulation standards there? Its .075% in several places I know.

probably not. was told on a benz forum that the astm standard was .05% or 500 ppm. will be resampling this week.

will try to get some bd from the same source as before along with a fresh set of results on the vo and #2. want to see if there's any consistence. willalso try to sample my 3 favorite diesel places the same day.
