I bought a used 1986 CHEVROLET BLAZER, MILITARY MDL D10, 4X4, AT that i would like to use vegoil on. Can you give me ideas on how to do this on a very tight budget. This vehicle will be shipped to Gambia West Africa where temperatures are always above 70 degrees.

"Always above 70 degrees." Wow, I'm jealous.

I believe the cheapest AND the best conversion is to be found using the info on
http://vegoilconversions.netfirms.com/

I spent a lot of time researching different systems and chose this one myself as both the best and cheapest. It's been great for me, and having been prowling this forum for nearly a year now I haven't seen anything that would change my mind.

Good luck!

easiest way is to collect and filter WVO to less than 10 micron. 5 or 1 microns is better.

You can probably mix 50% WVO with either diesel or a diesel/gas mix. This you should be able to run in your stock system without any modifications.

Or you can run two seperate fuel systems. Start on diesel and after the engine heats up you can switch to 100% WVO as long as you heat the WVO before using it.

If you have not already you may want to check into the availability of used vegoil and level of fats in it. This will determine what you will need to convert your vehicle..or if the cost of wvo compared to diesel actually warrent it. I have run into some wvo which is nearly solid at 70°F due to base stock and/or fat content. This needs to be terated as if the vehicle were being converted for a colder climate with thinner/lower fat conted wvo.

What engine is in the Balzer? Is it an IDI or DI diesel?

Dana,

1986 Chevy 6.2L is IDI. In fact, I believe all chevy diesels prior to the IZUZU Duramax were IDI's.

malamin,

Check out my signature for an easy "conversion". Basically stock, running a 75/25 WVO/RUG Blend with Cetane Boost/Fuel Conditioner. Hey, almost 23,000 miles and she's going strong.

Hope this helps!

Good Vegging and God Bless!!
24,000 veggie/blend miles and counting! Smile

1991 Ford F350 7.3LNA Diesel ZF5/5-speed tranny: Currently running unheated 75/25 WVO/RUG Blend [WVO - 5 micron prefiltered and regular unleaded gasoline mix] + Power Service Diesel Kleen 6-point Cetane Booster; removed mechanical lift pump, added single electric fuel "push" pump (NAPA #6101049), back near tanks; Fram #G15 (10) micron inline filter at main Fuel Filter inlet; looped IJP return line Tees back into Fuel Filter inlet; Injector return lines still go to stock selector valve and tanks; Fuel Filter Air Bleed tees back into Injector return line. So far, she's running GREAT!!
